Sampling the spirit of Virginia.

In September we collaborated with C-VILLE Weekly and Charlottesville 29 on a feature story about Virginia Distillery Co. Set in the idyllic Virginia countryside south of Charlottesville, Virginia Distillery Co. boasts a wide variety of single malt whiskies, including their first and only 100 percent American single malt port single cask, The Charlottesville 29 Single Barrel. Our aim was to provide spirited imagery that complemented food writer Simon Davidson’s article, and illustrated the hard work and passion of the team behind the whisky.

We were tasked with taking detail photographs of whisky pours, wide shots of the gleaming copper stills, as well as portraits of Amanda Beckwith, Director of Liquid Development & Lead Blender, and son of the founder, CEO Gareth Moore. We decided to take many of the photographs in the distillery’s cask room, where the warm and welcoming scent of whisky permeated the space.

We really appreciate the behind-the-scenes look and special opportunity we were given. Exploring and photographing the distillery was a lot of fun, and we’re looking forward to our next visit. Thank you, C-VILLE Weekly, Simon, Amanda, Gareth, and Jessica, for making this collaboration possible.
